Ajinomoto Co., Inc. Selected as an Official Partner for Tokyo 2020

Ajinomoto signed an official partnership agreement with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the Tokyo 2020 Games on March 28. The agreement covers the categories of seasonings, dried soups, amino acid-based granules, and frozen foods.

A press conference was held the same day at the Ajinomoto National Training Center in Kita Ward, Tokyo. President Takaaki Nishii highlighted the company's track record in supporting sports, including its role as an Official Partner of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) since 2003, becoming a JOC Gold Partner in 2009, and signing an Official Partner agreement with the Japan Sports Association for Persons with Disabilities in 2015. He also discussed the company's support activities for top athletes to win globally, including sports nutrition guidance and amino acid conditioning support (the Victory Project) and the provision of "Amino Vital," stating, "It is a great pleasure to be able to support the Japanese national team athletes at the Rio and Tokyo Games."

Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori expressed gratitude for the company's naming rights support, mentioning Ajinomoto Stadium and the Ajinomoto National Training Center, stating it has greatly contributed to improving the environment and growth of Japanese sports. He drew laughter by adding, "I try to give back a little by drinking Amino Vital at the golf course."

After the signing ceremony, the stage welcomed Masayo Imura, head coach of the Japanese synchronized swimming team, along with nine team members, and Paralympian swimmer Takuro Yamada of the Japanese national team. Marathon runner and sports commentator Mako Chiba served as MC for the talk session.

The athletes spoke about the effects of Amino Vital they experienced during competitions and training camps, their appreciation for the Japanese meals prepared for them overseas, and their interactions with the accompanying Victory Project members. They expressed their determination to win medals at the Rio Games. Head Coach Imura stated, "We are filled with gratitude for receiving such tremendous support."
