The nostalgic "Tris BAR" is opening for a limited time.

Toryu (now Suntory) launched "Toryu Whisky" in 1946, shortly after the war, driven by the desire to "offer affordable yet solid quality spirits." The "Toryu Bar," whose first location opened in 1950, reached approximately 2,000 stores at its peak, becoming a driving force in spreading whisky culture throughout Japanese society.

Its promotional activities were diverse, reflecting the times through advertising and campaigns like publishing the PR magazine "Western Liquor Heaven" for Toris Bars, creating the CM character "Uncle Toris," the famous tagline "I wanna do things like a 'human'," and the campaign "Drink Toris and go to Hawaii!"

To mark the 70th anniversary of TRIS this year, Suntory Spirits opened a limited-time "70th Anniversary TRIS BAR" at Roppongi Hills in Minato Ward, Tokyo (April 14-20).

At the opening event on the first day, Masaki Morimoto, General Manager of Whiskey and Imported Liquor, stated, "Sales of Toris Classic, launched in 2015, are steadily increasing. We hope visitors will enjoy Toris casually at this bar."

Actor Masahiro Higashide, who appeared in the TV commercial for Toris Classic, rushed to the venue as a guest. Higashide is a big whiskey fan and reportedly enjoys Toris.

In the commercial, he played a whisky novice. "It was challenging to act like I was experiencing Toris for the first time," he said with a smile. "It's an honor to be part of its 70-year history. I hope it lasts 100, 150 years. I want to be an actor who is loved for a long time too."

To commemorate the opening, Higashide personally poured himself a Tories on the rocks and made a toast. He described drinking whiskey as blissful moments, whether with childhood friends or fellow actors, stating, "Tories is a luxury you can buy for 1000 yen." He concluded, "Just like a classic novel, it offers flavors and enjoyment appropriate to its age," adding, "I hope both Tories connoisseurs and beginners alike will thoroughly enjoy it."

The Toris BAR features a bar counter inspired by Higashide's TV commercial, serving Toris Classic Highballs, the Higashide Style Rock Set served in a take-home glass, and food menu items. Nostalgic displays of vintage advertisements and Uncle Toris merchandise add to the atmosphere.
