Seminar: "The Threat of Ultraviolet Rays in Modern Times and the Latest Countermeasures"
A seminar for media professionals titled "The Threat of Ultraviolet Rays in Modern Times and the Latest Countermeasures" (hosted by the seminar secretariat) was held on April 14 at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

Professor Makoto Kawashima of the Department of Dermatology at Tokyo Women's Medical University, who chaired Part 1, began by explaining "photoaging," the skin aging caused by ultraviolet rays. He touched on the importance of sunscreen and stated that combining external care with internal sun protection measures provides the most comprehensive defense.
Next, Dr. Masamitsu Ichihashi, Director of Regenerative Future Clinic Kobe, took the stage to present on dietary approaches to UV protection. Dr. Ichihashi explained the mechanisms by which UV rays harm the skin, their link to skin cancer, and post-sun tanning pigmentation. He shared his personal UV protection methods, such as using sunscreen and minimizing skin exposure. He also reported clinical trial results for yogurt containing collagen peptides and milk ceramide, stating it shows promise as an internal UV protection measure.

In Part 2, beach volleyball players Kaoru Sugayama and Kaho Sakaguchi appeared. They engaged in a talk titled "Skin Care Methods for Female Athletes: UV Protection Myths and Truths," learning about UV protection and skin care methods. Sugayama expressed interest, saying, "Not only during competitions, but also daily while raising children, I'm exposed to UV rays. I want to ask the experts if my own sunburn care methods are correct, and also about caring for my child's skin." She commented on methods for maintaining beautiful skin, such as reapplying sunscreen. Sakaguchi, whose tanned, wheat-colored skin is striking, received advice that yogurt containing collagen peptides and milk ceramides is effective for UV protection. She expressed enthusiasm for her future skin care, saying, "I'm sure it's not too late to start. Eating yogurt daily is something I can easily do, so I want to stick with it consistently and not have any regrets."
