"Let's connect everyone's brilliance." Creating the Tokyo 2020 Games Public Relations Message

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced its official message on May 16, following the selection of the Games emblem.

The message is "Let's connect everyone's brilliance." The English phrase "Unity in Diversity" will be used to supplement the Japanese message.

The message was created to embody the wish that "the brilliance of each individual's diverse personality will be connected, creating a Games that link to the future." This aligns with the sentiment behind the emblem design, where three different types of squares interlock to represent "diversity and harmony," and also matches the Tokyo Games' core concepts: "Everyone at their best," "Diversity and Harmony," and "Passing on to the Future."

Going forward, it will be used alongside the emblem in various promotional tools created by the Organizing Committee and related organizations such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
