IOC Executive Meeting Preparations for the Tokyo Games are progressing well.

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games held an "IOC Executive Meeting" in Tokyo on May 25 and 26 with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission to review the Games' preparation status.

At a press conference following the meeting on the 26th, IOC Vice President John Coates (Chairman of the Coordination Commission) stated that the meeting received reports covering a wide range of topics, including ticket sales, licensing, human resources management, and cultural and educational programs. He also revealed that he held meetings with Toshimitsu Endo, the Minister in charge of the Games, and Yoichi Masuzoe, Governor of Tokyo. He further indicated that the preparation status for the Games is generally good.

Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori stated that the IOC had praised efforts to incorporate athletes' voices into the Games, volunteer participation, and collaboration with sports federations. He also said that based on this meeting, he would directly explain the preparation status to President Bach at next week's IOC Executive Board meeting in Lausanne, France.

Vice President Coates mentioned the possibility of considering Tokyo's proposed additional sports as a single package rather than individually. He expressed the view that if additions are realized, the Nippon Budokan is a strong candidate for karate, and Chiba Prefecture is likely for surfing. He also stated that sports climbing and skateboarding would likely be considered for urban areas, while baseball/softball would consider using existing facilities.
