Panasonic signed a Gold Partner agreement with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics on August 25.
The contract covers the following categories: AV equipment, home appliances, electric bicycles, welfare-related products (welfare-oriented bathrooms, welfare-oriented washbasins, The Shower, welfare-oriented home elevators), and power assist suits.
While the contract applies to Japan, Panasonic is also a Worldwide Partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), securing global marketing rights.
President Kazuhiro Tsuga commented: "We became the first Japanese company to become an IPC Worldwide Partner in 2014 and have supported the Paralympic Games since the 1989 Nagano Games. We will continue to support the Paralympics, which aims to create an inclusive society for people with disabilities through para sports that respect diversity, and provide products and services that are user-friendly for everyone, including people with disabilities and the elderly."
Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori commented, "Securing the cooperation of Panasonic, which has supported the Paralympics for 16 years since the Nagano Games and possesses extensive expertise, is a major step forward for the success of the Tokyo Games and is very welcome."
