China's internet rivals Sina and Tencent both saw strong advertising revenue growth in the third quarter of this year, with user numbers also increasing.
Advertising revenue for Sina's Chinese Twitter-like platform, Weibo, reached $43.7 million, a 125% increase year-on-year. Monthly active users at the end of September hit 60.2 million, an 11% increase over three months.
Tencent's WeChat, China's version of LINE, saw advertising revenue rise 37% year-over-year to $226 million. Monthly active users grew 15% over three months to 271.9 million.
