On October 6, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced the "Tokyo 2020 Official Mark" and the "Tokyo 2020 Support Mark" as the marks for the "Tokyo 2020 Participation Program."
This program provides a framework for various organizations and groups to implement actions aimed at participation, building momentum, and creating legacies for the Tokyo Games. Starting in October, events and initiatives are planned across eight fields: "Sports & Health," "Community Development," "Sustainability," "Culture," "Education," "Economy & Technology," "Reconstruction," and "All Japan & Global Outreach."
Official programs hosted by ministries, host cities, sponsors, the JOC, JPC, and venue-related municipalities will bear the Official Mark. Support programs run by non-profit organizations and others will feature the Support Mark. Both marks are composed of the "three distinct squares" that represent the Tokyo 2020 Games emblem's core themes: "Diversity," "Connection," and "Participation." The colors are based on the emblem's "indigo blue," accented with the red of the Hinomaru (Japanese national flag).
