At the start of the press briefing on November 21, Managing Executive Officer Shigeki Tomoyama drove onto the stage in the personal mobility vehicle "TOYOTA i-ROAD." He explained, "The elements of 'connectivity' required for smart mobility are comfort (connecting with people), safety (connecting with roads and vehicles) , ecology (connecting with the city), and convenience (connecting with society)." He introduced next-generation telematics, such as the "Agent" service—a navigation function where the car converses with the driver and provides various information. He also highlighted the advanced driver assistance system aiming for "zero traffic accidents" through communication between the car, infrastructure, and other vehicles; traffic information services utilizing big data; and the next-generation transportation system "Ha:mo." President Akio Toyoda, who appeared later, shared his thoughts: "The coordination between vehicles and infrastructure, and between vehicles themselves, will become increasingly important. We want to lead the way in creating a wonderful mobility society from Japan."
The booth featured a driving simulator for the driver assistance system and an experience corner for the "Agent" function, along with a vehicle used in the "Ha:mo" demonstration experiment. Adjacent to this, the Toyota Home booth showcased systems and technologies embodying energy management between cars and homes.
