The 70th 'Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards' Winners Announced
― Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Wins the Dentsu Inc. Grand Prize for Second Consecutive Year ―
The winners of the 70th Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards have been decided, with Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. selected for the Grand Prize. This marks Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.'s second consecutive year receiving this award.
On May 26, the final selection committee meeting of the Advertising Dentsu Awards Council was held at the Imperial Hotel in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. The winners for the "Advertising Dentsu Award," "Activation Planning Dentsu Award," "Innovative Approach Dentsu Award," and "Advertising Dentsu Award Special Prize" across categories including newspapers, magazines, radio, television, OOH media, and digital media, as well as the "Grand Prize" and "Excellence Award" for each category, as well as the "Regional Advertising Award" and "Second Place Regional Advertising Award" for the Nagoya, Kyushu, and Hokkaido regions, as detailed in the attached document. Finally, the "Grand Prize for Integrated Advertising by Dentsu Inc." was decided.
The advertising works considered for selection this time were those implemented between April 1, 2016, and March 31, 2017. A total of 1,422 entries were submitted to the Selection Committee, with 415 works advancing to the final selection.
During the final selection meeting held in Tokyo from May 19 to 25 this year, the winning entries were selected from the qualifying works. These were then presented to the final selection committee plenary meeting on May 26, where all 64 winning entries were decided.
Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., awarded the Dentsu Inc. Grand Prize for Advertising, was recognized for its outstanding achievements across all advertising activities. This included winning the Dentsu Advertising Award, the Grand Prize, and the Excellence Award in the "TV Advertising" category, as well as the Grand Prize in the "Newspaper Advertising" category.
The Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards in other categories were: the "Newspaper Advertising Dentsu Award" to Iwate Nippo Co., Ltd.; the "Magazine Advertising Dentsu Award" to The Imperial Hotel Co., Ltd.; the "Radio Advertising Dentsu Award" to Dai-Nichi Jochugiku Co., Ltd.; the "OOH Media Advertising Dentsu Award" to Yahoo Japan Corporation; the "Digital Media Advertising Dentsu Award" was won by Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd., the "Activation Planning Dentsu Award" by Morinaga & Co., Ltd., and the "Innovative Approach Dentsu Award" by Shiseido Co., Ltd. Furthermore, Akagi Dairy Co., Ltd. was selected for the "Dentsu Advertising Special Award," presented to advertisers who produced advertising works or solutions that garnered widespread public attention and became topics of discussion.
The awards ceremony will be held on July 3 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa International Hall Pamir in Minato-ku, Tokyo.
Marking its 70th anniversary, the Advertising Dentsu Awards clarified its purpose and significance as "expanding the path to solving advertisers' challenges by honoring them." It refreshed its logo mark, now depicting a collective of light, symbolizing advertisers' intentions and activities as "light."

The Dentsu Inc. Advertising Award, established in December 1947 (Showa 22), is Japan's oldest comprehensive advertising award. Operated by the public body "Dentsu Inc. Advertising Award Council," it aims to broaden the path for advertisers to solve challenges and contribute to the development of Japan's industry, economy, and culture by honoring advertisers who have practiced outstanding advertising communication. Selection is conducted by a panel of approximately 500 judges comprising advertisers, media companies, creators, and experts from across Japan.
