Tokyo Olympics All 339 events confirmed for competition Approximately 11,000 athletes

The International Olympic Committee ( IOC )held an Executive Board meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on June 9th, announcing the full list of events and the maximum number of athletes for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
According to the announcement
,16 new events will be added to theexisting28 sports. These includemen's and women's 3x3basketball, mixed doubles table tennis, and mixed team judo.In August 2016,five new sports and 18 events (added based on Tokyo's proposal), including baseball/softball and karate,were decided. This bringsthe total number of eventsto399andthe maximum numberof athletesto 11,090.
This expansion includes events like table tennis and judo, where Japanese athletes have strong medal prospects, fueling expectations for heightened excitement.
Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Moricommented,"Themixedteamjudoand 3x3 basketball were strongly requested by their respective federations, and I feel we have finally fulfilled a long-standing promise.The inclusion of BMX Freestyle cycling gives the impression of a major shift towards youth appeal, starting with the Tokyo Games.I would like to express my respect to President Bach and Chairman Coates for creating such a wonderful program."
