Since its founding in 1966, Weekly Playboy (Shueisha) has established an unshakable position as "the men's weekly magazine." To mark its 50th anniversary, the magazine opened its official bar, " Shupure Bar," in Kabukicho, Shinjuku, Tokyo, on June 10th.

The main floor features an oversized gravure of Fumika Baba, one of the current faces of Shūkan Playboy.
Operating for a limited one-year period, this establishment is a true men's bar, entirely produced by Weekly Playboy editors under the concept of "creating it like a magazine spread." Enjoy the editorial team's carefully crafted menu, including "karaage" (fried chicken) – the urban legend's "nice bodies are made by karaage" and the staple food (?) of gravure idols.
Of course, being produced by Weekly Playboy, it's no ordinary izakaya. Inside, the "Weekly Playboy Theater" regularly hosts special events featuring star-studded guests like Jun Miura, Lily Franky, Kankuro Kudo, Takafumi Horie, and Hiroyuki Nishimura. It's packed with the uniquely Weekly Playboy style of unconventional and passionate events.

The ceiling painting "Weekly Playboy Bar's Guardian Deity," specially created by manga artist Jun Miura, welcomes you.

Sensational articles and pin-ups from throughout its history are on display. Savor 50 years of history.
Not to be missed is the counter bar "Weekly Playboy Bar" set up at the back of the store. This VIP seating features popular gravure idols familiar from the magazine taking turns as hostesses. It operates on a complete reservation system (5 seats, VIP charge of ¥10,000, 1-hour rotation system). Check hostess schedules and make online reservations via the official website.
