The VOD (Video On Demand) service "Motto TV" (*1), promoted by Nippon TV Network, TV Asahi, TBS Television, TV Tokyo, Fuji Television, and Dentsu Inc. on Internet TV, will now be available for viewing on LG Electronics' (hereinafter LG) Japan-specific smart TVs, "LG Smart TV."
Starting December 6, 2013, the supported TV models are the following series of "LG Smart TV" released after April 2013. (An internet connection via wired or wireless LAN is required to use the "Motto TV" functionality.)
Supported Model 1: "LG Smart TV" LA9700 Series (Service coming soon)
Model 2: LG Smart TV 2013 Models (LA9600, LA8600, LA6600, LA6400, LA6200, LN570 B, LN4600 series)
*For Target Model 2, "More TV" becomes available after a software update via the internet.
LG becomes the second manufacturer, following Toshiba (Regza Z8X/Z8/J8, Z7/J7 series), to adopt the HTML5-based "Motto TV" specification for TV receivers. Furthermore, the "Motto TV" icon, pre-installed for the first time within the "My App Bar" of "LG Smart TV," allows direct access to "Motto TV" even while watching live broadcasts.
On compatible models, after launching "Motto TV," users can set an authentication code and register either a credit card or mobile carrier billing to watch diverse content, including terrestrial broadcast catch-up. (※Paid viewing applies to most content)
About "Motto TV"
"Motto TV" is a VOD (Video On Demand) service launched by Japan's major commercial broadcasters (Nippon TV Network, TV Asahi, TBS Television, TV Tokyo, Fuji Television Network) and the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) to make it easier to enjoy broadcast content. Since its launch in April 2012, it has enabled one-button access to a wide range of broadcast content. As of October 20, 2013, it offers approximately 15,000 episodes from each broadcaster, including terrestrial broadcast catch-up dramas and variety shows.
As of October 20, the service is available on Panasonic TVs (Smart VIERA), Blu-ray recorders (Smart DIGA), Toshiba TVs (Regza Z8X/Z8/J8, Z7/J7 series), and compatible smartphones and tablets (Android 2.3 or higher).
