The Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry is holding the "Osaka Certification Poster Exhibition" at 104 stations across 8 railway companies in Osaka Prefecture until October 25. Under the theme "Knowing Osaka makes Osaka even more interesting," unique posters featuring Osaka Certification questions related to each station are on display.
Last year's "Osaka Certification Poster Exhibition" was held on the Osaka Municipal Subway and JR West Osaka Loop Line, but this year six private railway companies (Kintetsu, Nankai, Hankyu, Keihan, Hanshin, and Hankai) have newly joined.
From September 10th to 24th, a selection of the posters will be displayed at the Space-Time Plaza on the 5th floor of Osaka Station City at JR Osaka Station. Additionally, an Osaka Certification information session will be held at the Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry starting at 2:00 PM on September 1st.
Dentsu Inc. Kansai Branch handled the poster production. We asked Keita Kusaka of Dentsu Inc., the mastermind behind the shopping district poster exhibitions, about the key points of this year's "Osaka Certification Poster Exhibition."
"Last year, the focus was on central Osaka City, but this year we expanded the scope to cover the entire Osaka Prefecture. Railway companies across Osaka Prefecture joined forces for this (which is pretty rare in Osaka itself, making it quite an achievement!).
With the expansion into the suburbs, the nature of the questions has changed too. Last time, the focus was on history, but this time, with areas like newly developed residential zones that lack historical context, we've added more 'Why on earth is this here?!' questions – the kind that are pointless but fun. Being the second edition, we're really pushing the illustrations.
Art Director Tsubasa Koji's illustrations are absolutely sharp. There's a site where you can see all the works, so please check it out!" (Keita Kusaka)
