Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, and the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry will hold the symposium "Prospects for Japanese Culture: Reflections on the Agency for Cultural Affairs Relocation" on November 30 at Iino Hall in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Capacity is 500 people. The application deadline is November 14. Details are available here.
The Agency for Cultural Affairs is scheduled to relocate from Tokyo to Kyoto by fiscal year 2021. This marks the first instance of a central government ministry relocating entirely to a regional area, drawing significant attention.
This symposium will feature a panel discussion with four experts deeply involved in Japanese culture, coordinated by Seiichi Kondo, former Commissioner of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and Representative of the Kondo Institute for Culture and Diplomacy. The opening will include a performance by Tsugaru shamisen player Kenichi Yoshida.
