Approximately 130 media representatives from 12 countries attended the media preview held on February 8. Deputy Secretary General Yukihiko Nunomura of the Organizing Committee stated, "We hope many people will experience a glimpse of 'omotenashi' (hospitality) enabled by Japan's cutting-edge technology. We want to firmly pass on the baton from PyeongChang with the spirit of 'Next is Tokyo! Next is Japan!'"
Immediately after opening to the public the following day, large crowds visited, enjoying the various exhibits. The venue was bustling, and by the 18th, visitor numbers surpassed 50,000.
Former speed skater and gold medalist Hiroyasu Shimizu visited with junior high and high school athletes, and former swimmer and gold medalist Kyoko Iwasaki also made an appearance. They were seen enjoying the exhibits.
Japan House will be open during the Olympic period until February 25th and during the Paralympic period from March 9th to 18th.
