McDonald's "Night Mac" Double patties—it's crazy!
McDonald's Japan launched its new "Night Mac" service on March 19.
This service, available daily from 5:00 PM until closing, allows customers to double the patty on regular menu hamburgers for an additional 100 yen. This includes popular items like the Teriyaki Mac and Big Mac, as well as fried items like the Shrimp Filet and Filet-O-Fish. Customers can enjoy these larger-sized burgers, whether ordered as single items or as part of a set meal.
The service had been piloted in the three Tokai prefectures since June 2017 and expanded nationwide due to its popularity.

On the same day, a countdown event was held at the McDonald's Roppongi Hills store in Minato Ward, Tokyo. Vice President Atsuo Shimodaira stated, "While we haven't focused on developing dinner-specific menus until now, we've identified customer demand. We're launching 'Night Mac' nationwide to satisfy customers with substantial, satisfying menu items that go beyond our current burgers. We hope you'll enjoy a hearty dinner and experience McDonald's at night."

Before the 5:00 PM launch, the comedy duo Speed Wagon, who eat at McDonald's at least once a week, appeared as guests. Jun Idoda commented happily, "Men love hamburgers, so when I'm hungry, I'll eat two or three. This service is really welcome." His partner, Kazutaka Ozawa, jokingly asked, "If you can double it for an extra 100 yen, does 200 yen get you even more?" Donald brushed him off lightly with "You'll have to discuss that with your manager," leaving him with a wry smile.

With only 15 minutes left until the promotion started, the two sampled the "Double Burger" with its doubled patties.
After taking a big bite of the Double Grand Clubhouse, Idoda, channeling his signature "Hamburger Master" character, shouted, "Double Burger!" with a surprised expression, adding, "It's incredibly satisfying. The volume makes you worry if it'll even fit in your mouth." Ozawa, who tried the Double Teriyaki Mac Burger, praised it highly: "The Teriyaki Burger usually has a strong sauce flavor, but with double patties, the balance is perfect. It's delicious and feels premium."
With 30 seconds remaining until service began, a simultaneous countdown started at McDonald's locations nationwide. As 5:00 PM arrived and the surrounding area buzzed with excitement, the two personally handed out the products to gathered customers.

Ozawa remarked, "I love McDonald's, but I never had the chance to eat it for dinner. 'Night Mac' gave me an opportunity to share a meal with various people. I think I can become a 'double' bigger person from now on." Then, Idoda doubled down on his signature line "Sweet~!" by shouting "Awesome~!" amidst loud laughter, wrapping up the event.
