Morinaga Milk Industry held a commercial launch event for its new product, "Triple Attack Yogurt," at Spiral Hall in Minato Ward, Tokyo, on March 19.

The company will sequentially launch "Triple Attack Drink Yogurt" and "Triple Attack Yogurt" from March 20 to April 10 as the first products under its "Morinaga Plus On" brand, which contributes to health. Concurrently, it will air a new TV commercial for Triple Attack Yogurt titled "Salt, Sugar, Fat Across Japan."


At the outset, Executive Officer Hiroki Takamizawa explained that while the yogurt market is growing steadily, functional products are seeing particularly strong growth. He stated the new products are being launched to expand this emerging market. He also presented findings from a survey on Japanese dietary habits, noting that while many people are mindful of excessive salt, sugar, and fat intake, few manage to address all three in a single meal.
The new product is a lifestyle support yogurt featuring "two types: drink and regular yogurt," "low salt, 40% less sugar, zero fat," and "a taste you can enjoy daily."
The commercial features comedian Reiji Nakagawa from the Kansai comedy duo Nakagawa-ke, talent Aki Takejo, and actress Yumiko Fujita as "three grandmothers." They hold a neighborhood gossip session on a veranda discussing the "salt, sugar, fat problem." The content is heartwarming yet highlights how widespread this issue is across Japan.
Reiji's complete immersion into his grandmother role is masterful and hilarious. His partner, Tsuyoshi, also appears somewhere in the commercial.


On stage at the venue, the Nakagawa Family and Aki appeared in gold-plated costumes, performing manzai as the new unit "Triple Attack". Tsuyoshi appeared wearing Fujita's mask but failed to get a laugh, leading to a scene where Reiji suddenly poked fun at him.
The routine featured common traits of grandmothers from their hometowns. The Osaka-born Nakagawa Family had the audience roaring with lines like "She dyes her hair purple and does the same to her beloved dog" and "She uses incredible arm strength when pushing people out of the way." Aki, from Yamagata, had everyone laughing with "She's incredibly proud of her homemade pickles."


During the talk session, they shared anecdotes from commercial shoots.
When Tsuyoshi asked, "Why were all three of you sighing during breaks?", Reiji laughed and explained, "Shooting is pretty tough. Young people might endure it, but we can't help letting our feelings show." Health topics revealed surprising facts, like Tsuyoshi's strict gym routine for managing his fitness.
Finally, the three promoted the product, stating, "We drink it every day, and we can handle it," and "It's easy to start. We want to use it to improve our eating habits."
