Dentsu Inc. Conducts "Survey on SDGs Among Consumers"

- While awareness of SDGs remains low, understanding them can drive action -

Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Yamamoto) has conducted the "Consumer Survey on SDGs" (hereinafter "this survey") through its company-wide "team SDGs" initiative. The survey targeted 1,400 men and women nationwide aged 10 to 70 to understand the current status regarding "awareness and understanding," "interest and concern," "profiles of those aware of SDGs," and "information exposure channels" related to SDGs.

Moving forward, based on these survey results, Dentsu will provide information to client companies to further promote SDG awareness. Additionally, through collaboration with diverse corporate and organizational partners, Dentsu will advance the development of SDG-related business initiatives.

The main findings from this survey are as follows:

1. 1. SDG awareness stands at 14.8%. While awareness itself remains low, the average level of resonance with the 17 SDG themes presented was high at 73.1%. This suggests that as understanding deepens, it could lead to future action.

2. Among the 17 SDG themes, the themes that resonate, the themes for which companies are expected to act, and the themes individuals wish to personally engage with differ.
① "Water" and "Oceans" themes ⇒ Tend to evoke empathy
② "Water," "Energy," and "Oceans" themes ⇒ Tend to generate expectations for corporate action
③ "Good Health," "Responsible Consumption and Production," and "Water" themes ⇒ Tend to inspire personal engagement

3 . Those aware of the SDGs exhibit high information sensitivity and income levels, actively incorporating new products and innovations into their lives.

※SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) were adopted at the UN Summit in September 2015. They are goals set by the 193 UN member states to be achieved over the 15-year period from 2016 to 2030. They consist of 17 goals and 169 targets agreed upon by countries worldwide to solve global problems and build a sustainable society.
