Dentsu Inc. Forms Capital and Business Alliance with Town WiFi, Provider of Public Wi-Fi Auto-Connect App
― Accelerating Location-Based Marketing Through Collaboration with GroundTruth Technology ―
Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Toshihiro Yamamoto) has formed a capital and business alliance with Town WiFi Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Takehiro Ogita), a provider of public Wi-Fi auto-connect apps. By integrating Town WiFi's app with the technology and platform of GroundTruth Inc. (hereinafter "GT"), which Dentsu partnered with in March, we will combine GPS-based latitude/longitude information with Wi-Fi-based location data to achieve more precise location-based ad delivery.
Currently, the "Town WiFi" app enables connection to 500,000 public Wi-Fi locations nationwide and is used by 2.5 million people. Based on diverse POI information (*) accumulated through this service, Town WiFi Co. provides information at moments close to purchase via pop-ups displayed in the app during Wi-Fi connection.
By combining the data held by our company, Town WiFi, and GT, it becomes possible to deliver ads to the optimal target audience at the optimal timing, not only within the Town WiFi app but also to external apps.
Moving forward, to further strengthen our "People Driven Marketing" approach centered on "people," we will accelerate partnerships with location data specialists like the recently announced Uneery and Town WiFi, in addition to GT's data. This will enable us to deliver world-class location marketing domestically.
