On September 28, the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee opened the "Tokyo 2020 Official Shop Ikebukuro East Exit Store" inside Bic Camera Ikebukuro Main Store (Tokyo, Toshima Ward) to sell official licensed merchandise for the Games.

This permanent shop will operate until the conclusion of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is the third such shop, following the Shinjuku West Exit Store (inside Bic Camera Shinjuku West Exit) and the Akasaka Mitsuke Store (inside Bic Camera Akasaka Mitsuke Station).
The Organizing Committee plans to continue expanding the shop network and enhancing product offerings to further boost enthusiasm for the Games.
An opening event was held on the first day, with Rio Olympics 4x100m relay silver medalist Yoshihide Kiryu and Paralympic track and field athlete Hitomi Onishi attending as guests to celebrate the opening.
The 74-square-meter store stocks approximately 1,000 officially licensed items.
Seeing the many products, Kiryu remarked, "Summer is ending and it's getting colder, so I'm interested in hoodies and hats." Ohnishi smiled and said, "The folding fans are really lovely. I'd like to give them to athletes from overseas. They'd make great souvenirs too."
The store will be the first to sell new items from the popular JOC/JPC official licensed "Character Design Series," which has been available since 2016.
This series features goods adorned with characters from eight popular Japanese works, including Astro Boy, Dragon Ball, Crayon Shin-chan, and NARUTO. New additions to the lineup include T-shirts and pin badges.
The dynamic designs feature characters cheering on Japan's national team athletes. Other stores will begin selling these items in October.
Both athletes wore the new character T-shirts. Ohnishi, a huge fan of Dragon Ball's "Goku," expressed his excitement: "I'm thrilled to be part of the character cheer squad. I think kids will find it interesting too."
The two athletes took commemorative photos with the first 10 groups of fans who visited the store that day.
Regarding the Tokyo Games, less than two years away, they commented: "This season didn't bring the results we wanted. We want to use the remaining time to really hone our speed and strength and grow." "The Games won't be exciting unless Japanese athletes deliver results. I'll work hard to compete for medals like Kiryu did. Please cheer us on."
