The Kansai Advertising Review Association, which primarily reviews advertisements in the Kansai region, announced its 2013 review summary on January 9. Reviews conducted from January to December 2013 totaled 565 cases, a decrease of 43 cases compared to the previous year.
Looking at the review content by category, number of cases, and percentage, the largest category was Medical/Health Foods with 183 cases (32.4%). This was followed by Other with 86 cases (15.2%), Door-to-Door/Mail-Order Sales with 60 cases (10.6%), Education-Related with 47 cases (8.3%), Manufacturing/Sales with 47 cases (8.3%), real estate (47 cases, 8.3%), membership recruitment (42 cases, 7.4%), agency recruitment (31 cases, 5.5%), personnel recruitment (17 cases, 3.0%), finance/investment (4 cases, 0.7%), and travel/study abroad (1 case, 0.2%).
Major increases from the previous year included 32 more in Other and 24 more in Education. Decreases included 67 fewer in Medical/Health Foods.
Meanwhile, based on screening results, 197 cases (167 cases the previous year) required careful handling by the requesting company or member company due to issues with the advertisement content or business type. 107 cases (142 cases the previous year) required corrections, deletions, or additions to the advertisement display. 155 cases (168 cases the previous year) had their determination held due to questions about the advertisement content or business type.
