McDonald's Japan Which do you eat first: the "Tatsuta" or the "Tareta"?

McDonald's Japan will offer the "Chicken Tatsuta," which debuted in 1991 and was renewed for the first time last year, alongside the new "Chicken Tare-ta" as limited-time items starting February 13.

The "Chicken Tatsuta" features a fluffy original bun filled with a ginger soy-flavored chicken patty, shredded cabbage, and a slightly spicy creamy sauce. It has been a popular item since its launch.
Meanwhile, the "Chicken Tare-ta" takes the Tatsuta as its base, combining it with a sweet and spicy sauce featuring gochujang and garlic, plus white cheddar cheese, to create a burger inspired by cheese tteokgalbi.

On February 7th, a media PR event and tasting session was held at the company's Tokyo facility. Marketing Division Manager Mami Sakashita stated, "Tare-ta, with its name similar to Tatsuta, carries the story of respecting Tatsuta. Our TV commercial depicts people hesitating over which to eat first. We hope everyone enjoys the fun of deciding at the store." She also introduced a campaign where retweeting the company's official Twitter post with the hashtag "#TatsutaTaretaDotchikara" enters you into a lottery to win "Chicken Tareta Special Spicy Sauce."

Comedy trio Dacho Club appeared as guests for the talk session.
Katsuhiro Higo wore a red suit inspired by Tare-ta, while Jimon Terakado and Ryuhei Ueshima wore yellow suits inspired by Tatsuta, striking their signature "Yaa!" pose. Terakado passionately explained their casting: "Because we're indispensable to the entertainment world, just like the hugely popular Chicken Tatsuta." Ueshima agreed, saying, "We're glad we worked hard to get here," but when Higo revealed it was simply a "bird connection" between ostriches and chicken, Ueshima responded with his signature line, "I didn't hear that~!" He then energized the crowd, declaring, "This year, we want to rename ourselves the 'Chicken Tatsuta & Tare-ta Club' and give it our all."

After hearing the product explanation from Shigeaki Wakana, Senior Manager of the Menu Management Department, the three exclaimed, "We can't wait any longer, we want to eat it now!" and eagerly sampled both items.
Higo praised it, saying, "The ginger soy flavor really comes through, and the bun is fluffy. It's a delicious taste you could call seasonal." Terakado, known as a food connoisseur, commented, "The sweet and savory sauce is exquisite and perfect for the cold season." Ueshima, who finished both items in no time, praised it with his signature gag, slamming his hat on the floor and exclaiming, "It's so delicious I'm going to sue!"
