"Teenage Voice 2019" Launches Children's Signatures Sought for Climate Change

The climate change awareness project "Teenage Voice 2019" launched on April 12.
This project is carried out by teams composed of diverse members and is developed in cooperation with the environmental NGO Climate Network, which works to solve climate change issues.

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released its "Special Report on 1.5°C" at its October 2018 session in Incheon, South Korea. The report projected that if global warming continues unchecked, the world's average temperature will rise nearly 2°C above pre-industrial levels by 2030. Furthermore, the 2015 Paris Agreement established the aspirational goal of limiting temperature rise.
To achieve these goals, global anthropogenic CO2 emissions must reach net-zero by the latter half of this century.

Against this backdrop, children around the world are raising their voices on environmental issues.
The project was launched with the goal of preserving and delivering these voices. Coinciding with Earth Day on April 22nd, a day for thinking about the planet, message advertisements created using the words of children from countries around the world were launched in the United States.
In addition to collecting signatures on the project website ( https://teenagevoice.net/), the project conducts various activities to raise awareness among the next generation about the global warming problem they face as their own issue and to create sustainable environmental practices. This includes inviting selected signatories to a tour where they can experience climate change firsthand.

■ Project Advertising Campaign

Message advertisements featuring the voices of children raising awareness and taking action on environmental issues were published in major newspapers worldwide, including The New York Times. The ads will also appear in magazines, posters, and on social media. The names of the children who contributed messages are hidden behind a barcode. Scanning this barcode with a smartphone allows access to a special website where participants can join the campaign and sign the petition. Additionally, the newspaper and magazine ads include a signature section; signing and mailing it makes you a supporter of the project.
