Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Announces Sochi Olympics Broadcast Outline ~PR Spots to Feature Female Announcers from Five Key Commercial Networks!!

The National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in Japan (NACB)/132 commercial TV stations announced the broadcast outline and PR campaign for the Sochi Olympics, opening on February 7th, on January 20th.

Commercial TV broadcasts will begin with the "Opening Ceremony Special & Freestyle Skiing Women's Moguls Qualifiers," followed by live coverage of highly anticipated events where Japanese athletes are expected to excel, including: * Speed Skating Men's 500m * Snowboarding Men's Halfpipe Qualifiers, Semifinals, Finals * Nordic Combined Men's Individual Normal Hill 10km For figure skating, live broadcasts will include the "Men's Singles Free Skate," "Women's Singles Short Program," and events from the new team competition: "Ice Dance Short," "Women's Short," and "Pairs Free." Highlights programs will also air. Live coverage will extend to the women's ice hockey preliminary matches against Germany and Russia.

Total broadcast time is approximately 127 hours for terrestrial TV, primarily featuring live competition coverage from prime time through late night. BS Digital will primarily air recorded broadcasts of the same terrestrial TV series, with approximately 28 hours of programming scheduled from noon to 3:00 PM the following day.

Furthermore, starting January 20th, PR spots featuring female announcers from the five major commercial TV networks began airing. The concept is "Sochi at Home." The five women, wearing matching red "dotera" robes, convey the message that viewers can enjoy an immersive Olympic experience at home while relaxing under a kotatsu, while also directing viewers to the commercial TV networks' joint official video site, " gorin.jp."
