[Announcement] DESIGNART TOKYO 2019 to be held with various events throughout Tokyo
The design and art festival "DESIGNART TOKYO" will be held from October 18th to 27th. Set in Tokyo, one of the world's leading mixed-culture cities, art, interior design, fashion, technology, and other genres from around the world will come together, with a variety of works being presented at locations throughout the city.
Now in its third year, the festival will launch activities aimed at maturing a culture that supports art not just by individuals but by society as a whole. "1% for Art" is a cultural system, legislated in countries like the US, Europe, South Korea, and Taiwan, where 1% of the construction cost for public buildings is allocated to creating public art. This system aims to create a society where people can regularly appreciate and be moved by art, while also generating employment for artists and designers, thereby revitalizing the creative industries.
The event will feature diverse projects aimed at realizing this system in Japan, alongside prominent advocacy activities throughout the event period to achieve its legal implementation.

[Special Exhibition by Art Director Asako Taki]
During the event period, a special exhibition titled "Without Fig Leaf, Clothing Was Not Born. ― If there had been no fig leaf at that time, clothing would never have been born." by Asako Taki (Art Director, Dentsu Inc.) will be held. For 10 days during the event, it will be presented in collaboration with the space "VIA BUS STOP MUSEUM (Daikanyama)", which selects high-end import brands.

This work uses "hair" to create something new that compensates for the incompleteness of nakedness, exploring the possibility of a "Hairism" world different from our own. If even one past event had been different, the future would be different. It expresses parallel worlds expanding from trivial phenomena.
The exhibition features a large-scale, 3-meter-tall installation created specifically for this show, along with video works and a scenario book produced on a made-to-order basis.
Additionally, the artist will present the work as a guest creator at the opening event, "PechaKucha Night Special."
