Yamato Holdings 2020 Support Message Trucks Launch (Video Available)
Yamato Holdings, an Official Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, held an awards ceremony for its support message campaign and a departure ceremony for delivery trucks displaying the messages at Haneda Chronogate, the Yamato Group's comprehensive logistics center (Ota Ward, Tokyo) on January 26.
The campaign invited elementary and junior high school students nationwide to submit messages of support for all athletes gathering for the Tokyo 2020 Games (June-September 2019). Trucks displaying the top-ranked entries will now operate within Tokyo.

President Yutaka Nagao stated, "We launched this campaign to fill Tokyo with messages of support for the athletes. We received an overwhelming 140,000 wonderful entries, far exceeding our expectations. As the Official Baggage Transport Service Partner for the Games, our entire company is united in delivering these messages along with the athletes."

The judging panel consisted of five members: Professor Takashi Saito of Meiji University, sportscaster Aya Terakawa, sports journalist Tetsuo Nakanishi, handball player Daisuke Miyazaki, and wheelchair basketball player Ikumi Fujii.
At the awards ceremony, Gold, Silver, and Bronze prizes, along with the School Award, were announced, and certificates were presented.
The Gold Prize in the Elementary School Division went to Mayuri Yamamura (Tokyo: 3rd grade) for her work: "Just by sound, you can tell which ball is yours, and the way they swiftly maneuver their wheelchairs is truly cool! I love the Paralympics!" In the Junior High School Division, the Gold Prize was awarded to Juto Yamamoto (Ehime Prefecture: 9th grade) for: "The stage I dreamed of begins. My efforts brought me here. Let all my power bloom in this moment!!"
Selected participants will receive supplementary prizes, including tickets to the Olympic and Paralympic opening/closing ceremonies and events, depending on their award level.

Outside the venue, trucks displaying the 14 winning messages against a backdrop of competition imagery stood ready. As winners and officials looked on, they formed a convoy and began driving off with a countdown. These specially designed trucks and handcarts will gradually increase in number starting that day, with a total of up to 3,000 units running throughout Tokyo until the Games conclude in September.
