"Honda" Civic × Evangelion Collaboration Project Launches!

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced on March 23 a collaboration between the Civic Hatchback, which underwent a minor refresh in January, and the anime series "Evangelion," whose new film will be released in June. A special website ( https://www.honda.co.jp/CIVICEVA/ ) has been launched.

Evangelion began as the TV series "Neon Genesis Evangelion" in 1995, expanding into various media including comics, movies, and games, and became a social phenomenon. Since 2007, the "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition" series has resonated with audiences, particularly younger viewers, through its characters reflecting contemporary sensibilities and its mysterious storylines. Its innovative and stylish visual expression has influenced not only general viewers but also many creators.
The film "Evangelion: 3.0+1.0" will be released on June 27.

Meanwhile, the Civic was launched in 1972 with the vision of becoming "the basic car for everyone around the world." The name means "of the citizens" or "of the city" in English.
Since its debut with a fresh form that became a talking point at the time, it has continued to run worldwide. In January 2020, it underwent a model change simultaneously with the sedan, featuring design evolution and standardizing a safety driving support system.

The collaboration project was conceived to convey the Civic's appeal to "people who want to move freely with their own aspirations, those who look forward and keep moving," by aligning the Civic's message of "continuous evolution without pause" with the Evangelion series, which has evolved and remained beloved for 25 years.
A mysterious countdown reflecting the series' worldview is progressing on the site's top page, with anticipation building for what will happen when the timer hits zero. Original videos featuring the series' characters Shinji, Asuka, and Rei alongside the Civic are also in production. Throughout the campaign, collaboration content will be released sequentially, primarily on the special site, alongside the hashtags "#ShinAoyamaOperation" and "#ShinCivic".
