"To the Adults of Japan" Samurai Mac Launch: New TV Commercial Featuring Masato Sakai (Video Available)

McDonald's Japan will launch two new "Samurai Mac" burgers on April 8th, available for a limited time (until mid-May): the "Grilled Soy Sauce Style Double Thick Beef" and the "Bacon Tomato Thick Beef," both featuring thick beef patties with a Japanese-inspired flavor.
The Samurai Mac was developed with the aim of creating a burger that satisfies adults. According to preliminary user surveys, it received high praise not only for its satisfying texture but also for the compatibility of the grilled soy sauce-style sauce with the ingredients and the overall balance.

To coincide with the new product launch, a TV commercial featuring actor Masato Sakai titled "Enjoy Being an Adult" will air.
The commercial opens with Sakai addressing the audience: "To all the adults out there. You've worked hard." Following sizzle cuts of the product, he declares, "Now, let's enjoy being adults. You've worked hard," and takes a hearty bite of the burger. Sakai, representing "adults," conveys the product's appeal with a powerful cheer for those who strive.

In an interview about appearing in the commercial, Sakai stated, "McDonald's has been a familiar part of my life since childhood, so it's a great honor. But I wonder if I'm really the right person to represent adults." He also shared his memories of McDonald's: "It was my Sunday treat. Getting the toy made me happy—it felt urban, like a little grown-up thrill. It was different from everyday meals; it made me excited and lifted my spirits."
He also offered encouragement to fresh graduates entering adulthood: "It's been 25 years since I became an adult, and I still don't feel like one. But I think it's wonderful to cherish that feeling of stretching yourself a little and getting excited. Do your best!"

The company is running the "#SamuraiMac Hashtag Campaign" (until April 7), where winners get McDonald's gift cards via lottery, and the "#SamuraiMacMonday Hashtag Campaign" (first round on April 13).
