Haikyuu!! Uniform Project Cheering on high school volleyball players (video included)

The Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department published a large advertisement in the morning edition of the Yomiuri Shimbun's national edition on August 24th, the day the Inter-High School Championships men's volleyball final was scheduled to take place. This coincided with the conclusion of the "Haikyu!! Uniform Project," an initiative to cheer on high school volleyball players.

The " Haikyuu!! Uniform Project" commemorated the final chapter of the wildly popular volleyball manga "Haikyuu!!" (Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump). Launched on July 6th, the project aimed to send dreams and hope to high school volleyball players nationwide whose Inter-High tournament was canceled due to the spread of COVID-19.
Uniforms soaked with the sweat and tears of high school life were collected from schools nationwide. These uniforms, representing the "soul" of the players, were gathered at the gymnasium where the Inter-High Boys' Final was supposed to be held. They were laid out on the court for a commemorative photo. Furthermore, this photo was published in the August 24th morning edition of the Yomiuri Shimbun, the day the final was originally scheduled to take place.

With the endorsement of the National High School Athletic Federation Volleyball Division, and further support including encouragement and uniforms sent by famous players, it became a movement that swept across Japan.

Additionally, behind-the-scenes footage leading up to the photo shoot was released. It shows the uniforms—symbolizing the feelings of high school volleyball players who lost the stage of their long-cherished dream finals—being laid out on the gymnasium floor for the shoot.

Furthermore, as a surprise for the participants, an original illustration and message of support from "Haikyu!!" creator Haruichi Furudate was enclosed within the returned uniforms as a gift.

On April 26, 2020, the cancellation of the Summer Inter-High Tournament was decided.
But the fact that you all worked hard won't disappear.

So... to preserve proof of your hard work.
To deliver that spirit.

We will take your uniforms to the Inter-High Championship finals venue.
