The "Well-being Initiative," hosted by Nikkei Inc. and Dentsu Inc., launched its "FR (Future Generations Relations)" activities on Thursday, December 14, 2023, with the goal of promoting societal well-being through dialogue with future generations. Fifteen companies are participating in this initiative, each pursuing activities under their own designated themes.

"FR" is a coined term, short for "Future Generations Relations," intended as a counterpart to "IR (Investor Relations)" activities conducted for shareholders and investors. It signifies activities to engage in dialogue and build relationships with future generations. This naming embodies the idea that, just as "IR activities" involve dialogue with shareholders, dialogue with future generations should also take root in society as "FR activities."
The corporate consortium "Japan Well-being Initiative" was established to increase the number of companies undertaking activities that enhance societal well-being and to create a society where people's well-being (their actual sense of richness) is valued.
Today, proactive dialogue between future generations and companies is crucial for enhancing the well-being of employees, customers, and society as a whole. It also significantly impacts how investors—who seek sustainable business growth and coexistence with society—evaluate companies. Therefore, the "Well-being Initiative" will develop "FR" activities. Participating companies will collaborate to continuously engage in dialogue with key stakeholders—including shareholders, employees, customers, business partners, and local residents—by adding the "future generations" who will shoulder tomorrow's responsibilities.
To launch this "FR" initiative, a meeting was held on December 14, 2023, with executives from each participating company. Based on the latest trends in well-being, they shared a vision for the future.
