2014 J.League Kickoff Which team will be the champion!
Video Research Ltd. conducted and released a pre-season survey regarding this season's J.League.
In predictions for the J1 champion, Yokohama F. Marinos, who finished second last season, ranked first, followed closely by Urawa Red Diamonds. Regarding Gamba Osaka, who won J2 last season and earned promotion to J1, about 7% of respondents believe they will win the title even in their first year back in J1. When focusing on responses from those who played soccer in club activities from elementary school through high school, Marinos ranked only 5th, with Reds taking the top spot. Interestingly, Cerezo Osaka and Kashiwa Reysol also ranked in the top 5.

Regarding J2 championship predictions, an overwhelming majority of all respondents, regardless of soccer experience, named "Jubilo Iwata," believing they will return to J1 within a year. When asked about Japanese players to watch, overseas-based players like Shinji Kagawa and Yuto Nagatomo ranked highly. Among J.League players, Yoichiro Kakitani (Cerezo Osaka) and Shunsuke Nakamura (Yokohama F. Marinos) drew the most anticipation. This year's J.League season is also a crucial stage for players to showcase their abilities ahead of the June FIFA World Cup in Brazil, making it highly anticipated. Furthermore, the signing of Diego Forlán, the top scorer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa and a member of the Uruguay national team, by Cerezo Osaka is generating significant buzz.
