Dentsu Inc.'s video internal newsletter "Video News: 'Driftwood Violin Resonates in Dentsu Hall / Play for Japan' " received the "Excellence Award" in the video category at the 2013 "Keidanren Recommended Internal Newsletters" recommendation and award program hosted by the Keidanren Business Services Internal Communications Center. This marks the third time that Dentsu Inc.'s "Video News" has won the Excellence Award.
Established in 1966, this program aims to promote internal communications activities beneficial to management and to enhance the quality of internal publications by evaluating and encouraging the daily efforts of editors. It evaluates content, planning, and structure across three categories—internal publications (print), intranet, and video—to select outstanding works.
The winning work, "Driftwood Violin Resonates at Dentsu Hall / Play for Japan," documents the "Great East Japan Earthquake Recovery Support Charity Concert" held at Dentsu Inc.'s headquarters in Shiodome, Tokyo, on November 14, 2012. The concert featured performances using violins crafted from driftwood collected from the disaster-affected areas. The performance by the 'Dentsu Orchestra,' composed of Dentsu Group employees, was praised as "a meticulously crafted work, with superb composition, editing, and filming. It is a moving and outstanding piece that conveys the 'power of music' to support Tohoku and the 'power of employees' participating in the support effort." It was selected as the sole Excellence Award winner from among 35 entries in the video category.
