In Taiwan, a "mascot character" has become a "virtual animal civil servant." The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications recently announced the appointment of "Oh! Bear," Taiwan's tourism mascot character, as the "head" of the newly launched project team "Super Mission Group." This was reported by NNA, which distributes economic information in Asia.
Oh! Bear is a "mascot character" modeled after Taiwan's rare Taiwan black bear (Asiatic black bear). The Super Mission Team's primary task is to interact with mascot characters both within and outside Taiwan. To mark the "appointment," a dedicated desk will be set up in the bureau's office.
Fifteen Oh! Bear costumes have been produced and will be dispatched not only within Taiwan but also to the agency's 12 overseas offices. They will promote tourism both within and outside the region. Plans are also underway to release related merchandise soon.
Additionally, a partnership has been established with "Taiwan Wonder☆," a mascot created by the Japanese private organization "Support Taiwan Association." Discussions are also underway for a collaboration with "Kumamon," the popular PR character for Kumamoto Prefecture in Japan.
