The FIFA World Cup Trophy has arrived!
The Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour, showcasing the FIFA World Cup trophy around the world, arrived in Japan on April 10. This marks the third such tour, following the 2006 Germany and 2010 South Africa tournaments. Japan is the 89th country on the tour's 90-nation itinerary, with the trophy arriving on a dedicated aircraft landing at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
An arrival ceremony was held at the airport, attended by Tim Brett, President of Coca-Cola Japan; the Brazilian Ambassador to Japan; Junji Ogura, Honorary President of the Japan Football Association; and former Japan national team player Masashi Nakayama . President Brett stated, "I believe both this trophy and Coca-Cola have the power to remind everyone of their dreams and to connect the world."
The next day, a public event was held at Shibuya Hikarie in Tokyo. It featured a photo corner where visitors could take pictures with the world's only trophy. Additionally, ahead of the launch of "Name Bottles" featuring over 250 different first and last names designed by Coca-Cola, a service printed names on bottles on-site, drawing long lines at the venue. Additionally, live performances by musician Naoto Inti Raymi, who created the "Coca-Cola 2014 FIFA World Cup Campaign Anthem (Japan Version)," and the Brazilian street percussion group "Monoblocco" energized the venue.
On the third day, the trophy made its first landing in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture. The "Tohoku Trophy Project," planned by students of Takata High School and supported by Masashi Nakayama, was implemented. Aiming to broadcast Tohoku's spirit to the world, the event featured performances of traditional local dances and matches between a team of former J.League players and teams of elementary, junior high, and high school students.
Japan Coca-Cola is rolling out various activities under the key message "Everyone's Trophy" ahead of the FIFA World Cup Brazil tournament opening in June. These include launching limited-edition design products and running gift campaigns.
