Bunka Publishing Bureau held the 88th "Soen Award Public Judging Session" on April 22 at the Bunka Gakuen Endo Memorial Hall Grand Hall in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. Established in 1956 as Japan's first new talent award in the fashion world, this prize has produced numerous internationally renowned designers. At this judging session, the 16 finalists selected from the open call each presented three works in a fashion show format.
The final judging results awarded the top prize, the "Soen Award," to Seihei Ohashi; the "Soen Award Honorable Mentions" to Victoria Veselova and Yuta Ogawa; the "Itokin Award" to Jibaja Wene Diego Andre Kay; and the "rooms Award" to the team of Minsoo Park & Jinhwa Lee.

Seihei Ohashi
In an interview after receiving the award, Ohashi expressed his joy, stating, "I want to be a designer who can succeed overseas as a Japanese person, expressing various thoughts through fashion by incorporating not only my own sensibilities but also social issues and modernity. I want to create clothes that make the women who wear them look strong, beautiful, and attractive."

The judging panel featured Japan's leading active designers. Among them, Junko Koshino stated after the ceremony, "This year saw participation from Korea, China, Russia, Peru, and other countries, making it more international than ever before. The Soen Award is not a goal, but a starting point. Whether you win or not, I hope this becomes a springboard for your leap forward and that you leverage the value of the Soen Award." Additionally, Mikinori Kojima, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine 'Soen' and Head of the Magazine Division at Bunka Publishing Bureau, stated, "We want more people to know about this award and hope it will lead to the spread of fashion based on creation, rather than commercial-based fashion."
