The 67th Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards Decided ― The Grand Prize, the Dentsu Inc. Advertising Award, goes to Ajinomoto Co., Inc. ―

The winners of the 67th Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards have been decided, with Ajinomoto Co., Inc. selected for the Grand Prize. This marks Ajinomoto Co., Inc.'s first win.

On May 23rd, the final selection committee meeting of the Advertising Dentsu Inc. Awards Deliberation Committee was held at the Imperial Hotel in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. The following awards were decided: the "Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award," "Grand Prize," and "Excellence Award" for each category (Newspaper, Magazine, Radio, Television, Outdoor, Digital); the "Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award," "Excellence Award," and "Integrated Campaign Award" for Promotion; "Semi-Integrated Campaign Award," the "Regional Advertising Awards" and "Semi-Regional Advertising Awards" for the Nagoya, Kyushu, and Hokkaido regions, and the "Special Dentsu Advertising Award" were decided as listed in the attached document. Finally, the Grand Dentsu Advertising Award was determined.

The advertising works eligible for selection this year were those implemented between April 1, 2013, and March 31, 2014. A total of 1,654 entries were submitted to the Selection Committee, with 370 works advancing to the final selection.

Regional preliminaries were held in five regions—Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Kyushu, and Hokkaido—in April this year. Winning entries were selected from the preliminary qualifiers at the final selection meeting held in Tokyo from May 19 to 22. These were then presented to the final selection committee general meeting on May 23, resulting in the determination of 64 award winners across all categories.

Ajinomoto Co., Inc., which won the Grand Prize in the Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards, was recognized for its outstanding achievements across all advertising activities. It won the Dentsu Inc. Advertising Award in the "Magazine" category, the Grand Prize in the "Newspaper" category, and Excellence Awards in both the "Magazine" and "Radio" categories.

The Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards in other categories were awarded as follows: the Newspaper Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award to East Japan Railway Company; the Radio Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award to Nippon Broadcasting System, Inc.; the Television Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award to all prefectures and 20 designated cities; the Outdoor Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award to Seiyu LLC; the Digital Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award to Ebara Corporation; and the Promotional Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award to Kumamoto Prefecture. Additionally, Suntory Holdings Limited won the Integrated Campaign Award, and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. won the Dentsu Inc. Advertising Award Special Prize.

The awards ceremony will be held on July 1 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa International Hall Pamir in Minato Ward, Tokyo.

Furthermore, the winning entries will be exhibited at the "Ad Museum Tokyo" in Shiodome, Tokyo, from July 18 to August 24.

<ABOUT the 'Dentsu Advertising Award'>
Established in December 1947 (Showa 22), the Dentsu Inc. Advertising Award annually honors advertisers who demonstrated outstanding advertising planning and technical skills in works executed during the year, contributing to the advancement of advertising activities. It is highly regarded as Japan's only annual comprehensive advertising award, with its history often described as "the history of post-war Japanese advertising creativity." Selection is conducted by 514 judges participating in the independently organized national body, the "Advertising Dentsu Award Council" (Chairman: Takashi Imai). The Selection Committee in each region is composed primarily of advertisers, media companies, producers, academics, and cultural figures.

<MAJOR Changes for the 67th Dentsu Inc. Advertising Awards>
・"Poster Advertising," "Promo & Direct Advertising," and "Internet Advertising" have been renamed "Outdoor Advertising," "Promotional Advertising," and "Digital Advertising," respectively.
・A new "Integrated Campaign Award" has been established for campaigns that connect users with brands/companies by integrating multiple media using innovative approaches.
・The "Honorable Mention Newspaper Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award" and "Honorable Mention Television Advertising Dentsu Inc. Award" have been discontinued.
