Sales on Demand held a new product launch event on July 1st at Omotesando Hills in Shibuya, Tokyo, ahead of the release of the "Braava 380j," iRobot's second product for the Japanese market following the "Roomba" robotic vacuum cleaner. The Braava has been released sequentially in Europe and the US since August last year and is already sold in approximately 30 countries worldwide. In Japan, it will be sold at the iRobot Store ( http://store.irobot-jp.com/) starting July 4th for the time being. It is a robot that can automatically clean hardwood and tile floors, choosing between two modes: wet mopping and dry mopping.

President Hajime Murozaki stated, "Nowadays, 70% of Japanese homes have hardwood floors. Since mopping is also recommended as a preventive measure against asthma, I believe the Braava, which cleans floors with just the push of a button, will definitely be accepted in the domestic market." Director Akihiro Ikeda explained the product's features, including the "NorthStar Navigation System" mapping technology that enables precise, thorough navigation throughout a room. The operating area is up to approximately 20 tatami mats in Wet Mode and up to approximately 56 tatami mats in Dry Mode.
At the venue's touch-and-try corner, the Braava in actual operation drew the attention of the press.
