A charity preview screening of Toho's film "The Cicada's Diary" in support of Great East Japan Earthquake recovery was held on September 10 at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills in Minato Ward, Tokyo. The film is based on the historical novel of the same name by Rin Hamuro, winner of the 146th Naoki Prize. This moving adaptation of the bestselling historical novel is set for release on October 4.
Furthermore, as the film was shot entirely on location, with its main filming site being Tōno City in Iwate Prefecture, Tōhoku, a charity preview screening for the Great East Japan Earthquake recovery support was held on this day, attended by Her Majesty the Empress.

Lead actors Koji Yakusho, Junichi Okada, Maki Horikita, Mieko Harada, and director Takashi Koizumi appeared both elated and tense at the preview screening attended by Her Majesty.
When asked about his impression of co-star Okada, who he was working with for the first time, lead actor Yagyu commented, "He's a good guy. He's dependable, and I have high hopes for his future." Okada also shared his impression of Yagyu: "I've looked up to him since I was a child. I'm happy to be sharing the same air. Just like my character in the film, I've always watched him as a disciple."
