BIGLOBE is streaming the web drama now. What will become of the "family band"...

On September 1st, BIGLOBE, which provides internet and other network services along with related operations, launched its latest smartphone model, the "LG G2 mini for BIGLOBE" (Uresuma). To coincide with this, the web movie "Family Band Story" began streaming on their homepage starting the 8th.

 

"Uresuma" is a service combining a "BIGLOBE LTE･3G" SIM card (using NTT Docomo's network) with the LG Electronics smartphone "LG G2 mini for BIGLOBE," offered at a low price point.

 

"Family Band Story" centers on a family of four who enjoy forming a band together. Actor Eisaku Yoshida plays the father, and talent Sayaka Aoki plays the mother. It's a nearly four-minute home drama featuring the father and his two children. One day, while performing, the father breaks his old-style mobile phone. He then purchases BIGLOBE smartphones for himself and his daughter. He tells his delighted daughter, "It's cheap, but I didn't compromise." Centered on the father and daughter connected by their smartphones, the story unfolds with the daughter facing the breakup of her favorite band and a breakup with her boyfriend. It's a story emphasizing the importance of family bonds, even in an era dominated by smartphones and the internet.
Starting in late September, it will be screened on the Train Channel and featured in transit advertisements.

 

On the 8th, the release date, a presentation for the new device and web movie was held at Roppongi Hills in Minato Ward, Tokyo, attended by lead actor Yoshida. Yoshida, who still uses a traditional flip phone, shared an anecdote about his wife, model Risa Hirako. He confessed that while they had agreed a traditional phone was sufficient for both, Hirako immediately switched to a smartphone, making him feel betrayed. "I want to master a smartphone someday and surprise her," he vowed, seeking revenge.

Regarding the movie's tagline, "I don't sell my lifestyle short, but I prefer a cheap smartphone," he praised it, saying, "That's exactly right, it's a great line." He also spoke about his dedication as an actor, mentioning how he experiences the profession for a role and values preparation like arriving early on set for warm-ups and line checks.
