Dentsu Inc. Hall Hosts Concert for Earthquake Recovery

The 'Dentsu Group Charity Concert 2014' (organized by the same executive committee) was held at Dentsu Inc. Hall in Shiodome, Tokyo, on November 7. This event, wishing for the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, has been held since 2012, making this its third year.

The first half of the concert featured performances using the "TSUNAMI Violin" and "TSUNAMI Cello," crafted by world-renowned violin maker Muneyuki Nakazawa. These instruments are known as symbols of support for the Great East Japan Earthquake recovery and as memorials for the victims, having been made by Nakazawa from driftwood found in the disaster-affected areas.

Guest performers included Seiji Okamoto, who became the first Japanese winner of the violin category at the 19th International Bach Competition held in Leipzig, Germany, in July. Joining him were his teacher, Kimiko Nakazawa, Yuki Kando (saxophone) from Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, and Ki-Yo (vocals) from Sendai City.

The second half featured the Dentsu Orchestra, composed mainly of employees from Dentsu Inc. and its group companies. Together with the guest performers, they delighted the audience with a diverse program centered on Bizet's "Carmen Suite," bringing the concert to a highly successful close.

The funds raised will be donated through Classic for Japan to support relief activities for the disaster-affected areas led by musicians.
