Dentsu Inc. launched "246 (Niyon Lock)" on November 13th, a smart lock service that allows users to manage the opening and closing of a dedicated lock device via a smartphone app.
"246" is a service consisting of the "246 Device," which handles the lock function, and the "246 App," which handles the key function. Since your smartphone, which you always carry, acts as the key, there's no need to worry about forgetting or losing keys, nor do you need to carry around multiple keys.
On November 13, the company launched the 246 website ( http://24-lock.com ) on November 13th, introducing the first model of the "246 Device," the "246 Padlock," and simultaneously launching recruitment for "246 Ambassadors" who will use the "246" products and services in advance and recommend them to others. In early December, the company plans to release the iOS (7.0 or later) compatible version of the "246 App" and begin accepting general reservations for the "246 Padlock." The Android (4.4 or later) compatible version is expected to be released in mid-December.
The "246 Padlock" incorporates the form and internal mechanism of a padlock, utilizing various software technologies like encrypted communication to achieve a certain level of tamper resistance and security performance. It also prioritizes a pleasant tactile feel and features genuine leather trim around the outer edge of the casing surface, allowing users to enjoy its aging characteristics over long-term use. The design embodies the aspiration for "246 Padlock" to become a product that alleviates minor anxieties encountered in daily life by being worn or carried like a favorite fashion item, and to serve as an icon expressing the desire to protect cherished possessions.
