Dentsu Inc. has decided to invest in the Japanese pop culture event "Anime Festival Asia Singapore 2014," held in Singapore from December 5 to 7, continuing its support from last year. Leveraging the expertise, relationships, and overseas network cultivated by the company, Dentsu Inc. will contribute to further promoting Japanese culture and enhancing the presence of Japanese companies and content firms at this event, which drew 85,000 attendees last year as a source of Japanese content.
Launched in 2008 primarily by Dentsu Singapore and other subsidiaries, the event features programs capturing local youth insights, such as screenings of the latest anime, talk shows with voice actors, concerts by Japanese idols, and fashion shows. Leveraging local digital trends for promotions, attendance has grown annually, evolving into one of Southeast Asia's largest Japanese pop culture events.
This year, the event has formed a partnership with Japan's largest anime event, "AJ (Anime Japan)", enabling mutual booth exhibitions and stage presentations between the two events. Furthermore, in collaboration with co-investor SOZO, which handles the introduction of Japanese pop culture and content locally, and Zepp Live Inc., which plans and produces events, efforts will be made to further enhance the event's value.
Dentsu Inc. launched its cross-departmental "Team Cool Japan" project last November to strengthen support for Cool Japan-related initiatives. By participating in this event as part of Team Cool Japan's activities, Dentsu Inc. aims to promote travel to Japan, support the expansion of Japanese companies and content firms into Southeast Asia, and create opportunities for test marketing and youth-oriented communication locally.
