Canon and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced on February 18
announced the signing of a "Gold Partner" contract for the 2020 Games.
The contract category is "still cameras and desktop printers."
Gold Partners represent the highest tier of sponsorship for the Tokyo Games and hold rights including the use of the Games name and marks.
Fujio Mitarai, Chairman of Canon, stated: "We will provide maximum support to the Games and the Japanese delegation, while offering the best possible service to photographers worldwide."
Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori commented, "We want to make this an event where the images of athletes are etched into history with cutting-edge cameras and printers, and where memories of the Tokyo Games live on in people's hearts."
Canon became the third Gold Partner, following Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) and Asahi Breweries.
