Fujitsu and the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games announced on February 19 that they have signed a "Gold Partner" agreement for the 2020 Games.
The contract category is "Data Center Partner," providing servers, storage, and services to handle the applications and data necessary for competition operations.
At a press conference held at the Conrad Tokyo in Minato Ward, Fujitsu President Masami Yamamoto stated, "In recent Games, information and communication technology has become increasingly important, and data volumes have grown significantly. As Japan's leading IC vendor, we want to contribute to the Games." He also indicated that Fujitsu would collaborate particularly closely with Worldwide Olympic Partners Panasonic and Atos, as well as Tokyo Games Gold Partner NTT Group.
Chairman Yoshiro Mori remarked, "The participation of this global company is significant for the Games' success. By joining forces, we aim to reliably transmit vast amounts of data and expand the circle of excitement."
Regarding the five companies already confirmed as Gold Partners, Chairman Mori remarked, "I feel that public understanding, anticipation for the Games, and memories of the 1964 Games are driving these companies forward."
Seven athletes affiliated with the company, who are aiming to compete in the Tokyo Games, also took the stage, adding to the occasion.
