The Tokyo Copywriters Club announced the winners of the 2015 TCC Awards. From 6,412 entries in the General Division, one TCC Grand Prix, eleven TCC Awards, and two Jury Chairman's Awards were selected. In the Newcomer Division, open to non-TCC members, one Best Newcomer Award and twenty-one Newcomer Awards were chosen from 408 entrants.
The copy selected for the TCC Grand Prix came from Suntory's "Pepsi Nex Zero" TV commercial: "Defeat someone stronger than yourself." (Takashi Tada / TUGBOAT).
The TCC Grand Prix for Best Newcomer was awarded to Tomokazu Yamamoto of Dentsu Inc. He was recognized for his work on TV commercials such as Daihatsu's "WAKE" campaign, featuring the tagline "Hey, buddy! It's WAKE! Use it boldly. It's WAKE!"
Chairman of the Judging Committee Hiroshi Ichikura commented, "I felt this might be the year when the younger generation put up a good fight against the perennial champions, signaling the opening of a new era. It truly embodies the Grand Prix copy: 'Beat the ones stronger than yourself.' I hope the next generation becomes challengers who defeat their powerful seniors, energizing the copywriting world."
