According to Nielsen's new "Twitter TV Ratings," tweets about TV programs are viewed by an average of 50 times the number of people who posted them. Previously, focus was on how many people tweeted about a program, with little attention paid to the number of viewers who actually saw those tweets.
AMC's "Breaking Bad," the most talked-about show in the final week of September, generated 1.2 million tweets from 600,000 people, resulting in 130 million impressions. NBC's "The Voice," the second most tweeted show, saw 270,000 tweets from 140,000 people, generating 14 million impressions.
In Q2 this year, 19 million people in the U.S. tweeted 263 million times about live TV viewing. This represents a 24% increase in people and a 38% increase in tweets compared to the same period last year.
