Meiji signed a "Tokyo 2020 Gold Partner" agreement with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games on October 16th, covering the period through December 2020, including the Tokyo Games. The agreement covers the dairy products and confectionery categories.
President Kazuo Kawamura commented, "As an Official Partner of the JOC (Japanese Olympic Committee), we have supported the Japanese national team at the London and Sochi Games. For the 2020 Games, we will contribute to the Olympic and Paralympic Movement and the promotion of sports through our dairy products and confectionery."
Gold Partner is the highest domestic sponsorship tier in the Tokyo 2020 Sponsorship Program. Thirteen companies have been selected so far, with Meiji becoming the 14th.
