Dentsu Inc.'s overseas headquarters, Dentsu Aegis Network, announced on December 16th that it has reached an agreement with shareholders of the JaymeSyfu Group, a leading Philippine creative agency, to acquire a 70% stake in the company. The agreement also grants Dentsu Aegis Network the option to gradually increase its shareholding and make the JaymeSyfu Group a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Founded in 2005, JaymeSyfu Group comprises three companies: the integrated creative agency "DM9 JaymeSyfu Inc.", the digital-focused "Digit DM9 Interactive Inc.", and "DNA", which specializes in activation. The core company, DM9 JaymeSyfu Inc., is renowned for its creativity, having been named "Agency of the Year" in the Philippines. In 2013, it won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the world's largest advertising festival, and has also received top honors at the D&AD Awards and Spikes Asia. In 2014, it was ranked 5th among "Asia's Hottest Creative Agencies" by Campaign Asia, a leading industry publication in Asia. Additionally, Merlee Cruz-Jayme, the company's Chairman and Chief Creative Officer, was selected as the 5th most awarded Creative Director in Asia.
Following the investment, Jamie Saifu Group plans to merge with Dentsu Inc. Philippines, a full-service advertising agency, and change its name to Dentsu Jamie Saifu. After the merger, overlapping departments will be consolidated to enhance operational efficiency, while further strengthening the creative, digital, and activation divisions.
