On January 25th in Beijing, the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (equivalent to Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) hosted a New Year Appreciation Banquet for global companies operating in China. Dentsu Inc. received the "Most Valued Partner" award for the second consecutive year. This appreciation event, which also serves as an awards ceremony, recognizes global companies operating in China that have made special contributions to Chinese education and human resource development. This year, 32 companies (including two Japanese firms) were invited, with Dentsu Inc. among them, and received awards from the Chinese government.
Furthermore, among the 32 award-winning companies, representatives including Dentsu Inc. President Nao Ishii, along with representatives from IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Microsoft Research Asia, Adidas, and NXP Semiconductors, received the "Special Contribution Award" given to individuals.
Dentsu Inc. has been recognized by China's Ministry of Education with the "Special Contribution Award for Educational Support," equivalent to a national award, and a letter of appreciation in both 2006 and 2009. This recognition stems from its significant contributions to the development of advertising education and talent cultivation in China through the "Japan-China Advertising Education Exchange Project" (1996-2004) and the "China Advertising Talent Development Fund Project" (2005-present). This marks the second consecutive year that Dentsu Inc. has received the Outstanding Partners Award. President Ishii's "Special Contribution Award" makes him the second Dentsu Inc. president to receive this honor, following the late former President Yutaka Narita in 2006.
